Raised in the Largo Area of Pinellas County, Alan always enjoyed music. However, it seemed to be pushed aside for one reason or another. Yet, music kept reappearing from time to time; chorus, church and singing in a rock & roll band in high school, which appeared twice on a local Tampa Bay T.V. The show was similar to American Bandstand but at a local level and had local bands appear. After moving to Havana, Florida, Alan sang in the choir with a couple of the local churches.
Around 2011, Alan joined a Bluegrass Jam that met at one of the local churches in Tallahassee. It was the first time that he ever really played with other musicians. It was definitely an adjustment for someone who had always just played alone. While the jams have been a learning experience, Alan is still most comfortable playing solo, probably because he dances to a different beat…. the same way he plays his music.
Over the past couple years, Alan has played at area car shows, the local V.F.W., the Quincy Porch Fest, and played for the Tallahassee Honor Flight to help raise money to send WWII veterans to Washington D.C., in addition to playing at some of the area nursing homes.
Music is just fun and a form of relaxation for Alan.
